Budget Bandit on mobile is offline-first. Your budget lives on the device, so the app stays fully usable on a plane, in a basement, or anywhere the signal drops. Edits you make offline save locally and sync the moment you’re back online.

What works offline

Effectively everything you do day to day:
  • Open the Budget, Transactions, Accounts, and Reports tabs.
  • Add and edit transactions with quick-add.
  • Assign money and move it between categories.
  • Check balances and what’s safe to pay on your cards.
Because the data is already on your phone, these screens load and respond without waiting on the network.

The offline banner

When the app loses its connection, a thin banner appears at the top:
Offline — changes save on this device and sync when you reconnect
It’s a reassurance, not a warning. Keep working; nothing is lost. The banner clears on its own once you’re back online.

Syncing when you reconnect

When the connection returns, the app uploads the changes you made offline and pulls down anything that changed elsewhere — including edits made on the web or by someone you share with. You don’t trigger this; it happens automatically.
Settings shows your current status as Connected or Offline, so you can confirm at a glance whether your latest changes have synced.

Things that need a connection

A few actions reach a server by nature and won’t complete offline — for example, linking a bank and pulling fresh bank transactions. Queue your manual edits offline; run bank-linked actions once you’re back online.

If a change doesn’t appear on another device

  • Confirm both devices are online and show Connected.
  • Give sync a moment to finish after reconnecting.
  • Still missing? See Fix sync problems.
